Day to Day Tiny Details

Good Evening my sweetlings,
I've been taking lots of pictures lately of the little things, day to day. I love tiny captured moments like that, things that are nothing out of the ordinary, just the way you live your life. Hopefully you'll enjoy some little snippets of my days and nights ♥ Just imagine me singing The Lady is a Tramp in the background!

Crochet, I was making a Cosmic Headband which you can see at the bottom of the post (soon to be going in the shop)
I adore these colours together, it reminds me of nebula and stars being born. Infinity in finite stitches.

Preparing Chinese food with Steven. I do love a good Spring Onion!

I think I might just be slightly in love with the Yogi Tea packaging, I love the colouring and patterns.

Medicine Woman by Lynn V. Andrews, I finished this a few nights ago and am now reading Jaguar Woman. There is a huge series of these, they're about a woman going to live with a Native American lady named Agnes Whistling Elk and learning to be a Medicine Woman. It's really interesting!

Cosmic headband, this would be awesome for taming dreads that like to tickle people in the face like mine used to!

Rat Tales: Neville & Lupin

Good Afternoon my dears,
A few nights ago Steven came home with a little surprise for me, or should I say two little surprises! He's amazingly good at sneaking new little rats into the house without me realising, he's done it with 3 now!
I'd like you to meet Neville and Lupin, the two newest additions to the Wizards Tower. Right now they're in the Tower Annex but we've been introducing them to the big boys over the past few days and will be moving them into their proper house soon.
Having two babies is an interesting experience since the last time we had two together was back when we got Ganny and Dumbles as babies. Ever since we've always had one newbie at a time. Socialising and taming two little rats is slightly more difficult, but it's interesting to change tactics and keep learning.
Neville is the black and white rat. He looks like the perfect mix between Dumbles and Sev which really makes me happy. Lupin is the white siamese albino.

Peeking out from beneath his covering of tissues.
I see a little silhouetta of a pig scaramoosh scaramoosh will you do the gandango! Actually it's not little and it's not a silhouette so much as just... a pig. A big pig! A GARGANTUM PIG!

This picture really, really makes me laugh and fills me with joy. Sev looking absolutely smugtastic. He is the Smug Lord!

Me? Smug? Never mum!

Lupin appears to have perfected the art of doing pretty much everything with his eyes closed, including eating.

You have a little something on your face... just... well, just everywhere.

The sun came out so they were enjoying scurrying around and sunbathing!

Lupin with his eyes open? RIDIKULUS! (How many Harry Potter jokes can I attempt to cram into one post you say? Many I reply)

I enjoy this look, it says something along the lines of 'what is wrong with you, why are you taking photos of me grooming my butt?'

P.S: Thank you to everyone who has entered the Give Away so far! I'm really excited to see so many people taking part this month! You still have 3 more days to enter so go forth young snapper!

Take a Walk on the Herby Side

Good Afternoon my dears,
I hope you all had a wonderful Summer Solstice, I've been a little burnt out after Faery Fest so we just took it easy this year. I am rather excited for Lughnasadh in August though! Hopefully I'll be celebrating it with my beautiful friend Monsta who has just jumped feet first back into the path, I'm really looking forward to teaming up to work with her and lots of witchy discussions ♥
This leads me rather nicely to the outing we took yesterday to join my friend Hannah on one of her herb walks. She graduated as a herbalist from the same university that I went to and I now work with her as well so I was really happy to be invited.
It was an amazing walk, I learnt a lot, especially in identifying herbs that I'd only ever seen in my books before. It was quite funny because as we walked around Hannah would first ask us if we knew what the specific herb was. Most times I would try and answer and although I didn't get the exact herbs right I always identified the plant family they were in correctly!
I also took my camera as I was told I would be introduced to a Faery herb I would love, so I took some photos of the whole outing to share. I rarely take my camera into town so it's always nice when I have it with me.

Hello there Tiny Owl Prince! Extreme Close up!

I don't usually take the Bathroom Mirror Photo of Doom but I've been feeling a little sensitive about my face lately (there are some truly horrible pictures of me out there right now!) so I wanted to prove that I can look human!

The first herb we met was Lady's Mantle, something I've had growing in my garden for a long time but never actually identified.

We came to an area that used to be a proper Herbalist Garden. Though it has long since changed hands it still has a lot of herbs growing in it.

Here is Lovage, with leaves that apparently taste of celery! I don't like celery so I didn't try it, also because Hannah told us that the taste will stay with you all day.

A rather large, old Rosemary plant. A tip here is that, because the plant is so oily, it's best to use it fresh instead of dried. When it's dried it loses a lot of it's flavour and goodness!

This is Lemon Balm, a really good herb to use when you're feeling stressed or if you've had a particularly hard day. Just pick some of the fresh sprigs and steep it in hot water for 5 minutes or so.

Sweet Woodruff, this is one I've always wanted to see but never encountered.

I think everybody knows this fiend! Of course it's Nettle. I have a little bit of a soft spot for Nettle because it has so many great uses and I think it can be overlooked because it's a bit scary.

This is the Faery Herb in all her glory, it's White Deadnettle! White Deadnettle looks like the regular Nettle but it actually has no sting in it at all so it's perfectly safe to pick. It has these amazing white flowers that look like little robed figures and if you turn them upside down they make faerie shoes! An old folktale says that faerie's took to hiding their shoes inside the flowers of Deadnettle because people would be scared away from picking them. You can also suck the nectar out of their flowers, they've very sweet.

Lots and lots of Yarrow which is great for stopping bleeding. Hannah informed us that if you have a nosebleed you can stuff some sprigs of yarrow up your nose and it will very quickly make it stop. However, paradoxically, it also has the power to start a nosebleed if you don't have one because it interacts with the mucus membranes on the inside of the nose.

After the walk and talk was done we all went for tea together. Actually it wasn't at the place pictured at all, I just really like the sign!

A shop had these amazing old fashioned animal teddies. I love the owl!

and the mouse is adorable too.

A pretty shop window on the way down the hill.

The place that we went to for tea was a health shop with a massive range of teas. There are two places I've been lately that have had so much tea, I've been in tea heaven! I picked up some Yogi teas that don't have Cardamom or Cinnamon as a main ingredient, all the ones I've ever found always have those in abundance and I can't stand sweet tea so I was really excited to find ones without it so prominently featured!
The Lipton teas are from a new shop that has just opened at the bottom of our road. I'm not entirely sure about the Sencha since it has pear as a main ingredient but I love the White tea with Rose and Violet, it tastes like what I always think perfume should taste like!
The Bojenmi is my favourite tea of all time, from the Chinese Supermarket. I thought they'd discontinued it because I couldn't find it for a long time, I'm so happy they have it back now!

On the way down the hill we stopped at the magic shop and I picked up two new pots of Tiger Balm, one in red (for heating) and one in white (for cooling). I have to say this is one of the main tools in our medicine cabinet at home, it's perfect for if you have joint ache.

3 Wishes Faery Fest 2012

Good Morning my sweetlings,
I have been away frolicking with the faeries, trolls, goblins and sprites in Cornwall for the past week or so, now I have returned! I had a fantastic, hilarious time with my lovely friends Monsta, Monkey and Moo in our tent of MMMM and also met up with some other faerie friends whilst there including Chelsea and her boyfriend James, Bryony, Bruce and super cute salty sea Max and Natalee.

This was my third year going, I've been super lucky to be able to keep going and spending time with wonderful friends. You can see 2011's post here and my first ever jaunt to 3 Wishes here!

Let's take a walk in the wild shall we?

Monsta wearing my Luna Lovegood Lion hat and still managing to look beautifully gothly. Monsta very kindly let me stay at her house for a few days surrounding the festival, thank you so much!

Monkey with her Fayble by Armorel Hamilton being pretty much too cute for life!

My boots were my best friends, it was incredibly muddy! I don't think I shall ever get them quite so clean again.

I love this photo of Monsta and Moo striding off into the night.

Pete the Wagon who I still haven't actually managed to speak to! Talking to Leaf who is an awesome tarot reader.

We were the Crepé Queens! I was the supreme Queen of Crepés, I was rather obsessed with them. Monsta had a fight with her syrup!

This lady had the most glorious dreadlocks and she was also super smiley, I don't think I ever saw her not smiling!

 Baby faeries.

This lady is so beautiful and she had the most amazing stall, I got a felted bag and an amazing pink patchwork shrug from her shop.

Moo and I accidentally became tree stalkers when Wendy and Brian Froud appeared!

Beautiful Bryony was there looking as glorious and gorgeous as ever! Her little boy Max is the cutest goblin child I've ever met, though he did insist on sword fighting me with a feather one night! I got a twig to use... hm...

Monkey just being entirely too frogly for the world to handle.

The Froud's! Faerie Royalty for sure! They bought their troll Mother Leap with them, Wendy read an amazing story about her. We ended up going to both their talks because they are just so amazing and fantastic!

I got my photograph taken with them, I was quite shy! I love how my face and Brian's look quite simillar, we are rather toady!

 Striding into the wild.

Monsta found a piece of fluffy moss which became part of her hair adornments.

Monkey showing off her sexy swooping skills.

 Moo Queen, Space Princess!

The pants were worked into nearly all of my outfits this year, they are my new favourites I think!

Moo being generally gorgeous and amazing.

Whilst we were exploring a downpour started so we found an amazing tree to shelter under.

 Chelsea, Moo and beautiful Natalee

Ooogling Linda Ravenscroft's work and perfume, I bought her Kismet perfume and it is delicious! We actually went and did a drawing class with her in the forest and it was amazing, thank you Linda!

On our way home we arrived in Plymouth super early so we sat at Starbucks for many hours drawing and ingesting amazing goodness. I had Hot Chocolate and a Tuna Cheese melt panini.
