Good Evening my dears,
Today has been hot and hazy and everything has smelt of flowers and sugar and hot tarmac. I decided to go into town by myself, I haven't done that in what feels like forever. Sometimes you have to take yourself out and let yourself go wherever you like, without worrying about being too slow or ambling. I do worry about those things when I'm with somebody else because I can get terribly distracted and want to go off and look at everything, or else I just want to stand outside and look at the sky or the water or the flowers, but when you're alone you don't worry about those things.
My mum gave me a Waterstones giftcard when we went home so I wanted to go in and have a look around. I rarely buy from Waterstones, though I do like just browsing in there, but if anybody gives me a giftcard then that's a different story!
I looked at the crochet, needle felting, knitting and home decor books for quite some time, and I would have bought the book Hoopla, which I think is written by the same lady who wrote the Yarn Bombing book I got for Christmas, but it was a little too pricey for how much I had on the card so I decided against it.
Instead I perused the Paperblanks shelf for far too long and finally decided to buy myself a new, fancy diary in emerald green with a magnetic clasp. I've had a lot of writing rolling in my mind the past week or so so I thought I'd buy myself a place to write it down, a little secret place.
I also bought myself a lovely gauzey, chiffony, silky dress from a charity shop with what looks to be bluebells and dog roses on it and a book by Kathleen Tessaro. If I have a guilty pleasure writer, which I'm not sure I do, then it would probably be her. I've enjoyed every book of hers I've read and this one, 'The Debutante' is shaping up to be enjoyable too.
Now I'm listening to Dolly Parton's 'Jolene' and watching the sky turn icecream colours outside the window. Dolly would be another guilty pleasure if I felt at all guilty about enjoying her, but I have to say I am actually rather shameless about my love for her!
My new dress, perfect ankle length with fluttery sleeves. Perfect for summer.
I washed my hair last night and now it has gone into a completely unruly, uncontrollable, fluffy puff of a thing. Oh well! You can see how wavy it is which I rather like.
Burning sticks and sticks of incense in Pine, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang, Snow and one from the market magic shop simply called 'Shiva'.
The book and the diary I bought. I've been eyeing these diaries up forever and ever and ever but never bought one for myself, I'm really glad I did.
A little snippitiy snip of writing inside. I've rubbed perfume all over the wax paper in the front so now when I open it I get wafts of perfume coming off it.
