Vegetable Arranging

Good Evening my dears,
I apologise for the lack of updates this past week, my laptop charger broke on Wednesday and then I was away with family for the weekend so I haven't had much time to update.
This Friday was my grandma's funeral (I call her my Nannie, that's what she liked), I know I've been a little cryptic over the past couple of months but her illness has been something that I and my family have really struggled with this Summer. Her funeral was the first one I ever attended so I was a little scared about it but my family all really stuck together and supported one another, I was very proud of everybody and very proud of my family.

My mum and her sister had this amazing idea for a different take on flower arrangements. My Nannie was very fond of animals of all kinds and she said that she didn't really want flowers, she wanted something that the rabbits could eat. My mum and my auntie then came up with this really great concept of making the arrangements with rabbit friendly things, vegetables! So on the Friday morning we all got together in my aunties kitchen and made arrangements with vegetables, it was so much fun and we were all laughing, it was truly a great way to honour my Nannie and her spirit.
My mum, auntie and I all breaking up the vegetables into bits.

Starting work on my arrangement which was in a basket.

My mum (in the orange) and my auntie (in the pink) starting their arrangement.

Starting to take form! The idea was to get pretty vegetables like this red cabbage.

My Lettuce Heart, it was so cute and perfect.

She goes on the arrangement!

They spent forever looking for carrots with the leaves on, they seem to be quite hard to find.

I wound the carrot leaves around the handle on my arrangement and secured them with bits of wire.

My Dad helping me hang some apples at the top which was Steven's idea.

The finished article with a lettuce heart in the centre, carrots at the edges and cabbage leaves at the front.

They picked up this really strange vegetable that was a hybrid between a cauliflower and a broccoli.

My mum and aunties finished arrangement, theirs was about double the size of mine!

I love this picture, I just walked into the kitchen and found my mum just... chomping on this carrot.

My cousin and I looking a little bedraggled, it was absolutely pouring with rain that day and very windy.

Welcome to my room

Good Afternoon my darlings,
Since I tidied my room up recently I thought I would take the opportunity to take you on a guided tour ^_^. I love seeing other peoples rooms and houses, I suppose it's one of my guilty pleasures!
The view from my bedroom door. There isn't much space between the door and the side of the bookcase.

On top of my bookcase are my baskets, a book on Poi that my friend Kala leant to me and a digital photo frame that Steven gave to me. One of the baskets is broken so I really need to fix it!

The top shelf where I keep my Haruki Murakami and Banana Yoshimoto books, my collection of Koffings (from Pokémon), a few oil burners, some Mint Water and some Oil for my door which doesn't seem to fit in with everything else but it's a necessity when you have my door.

One end of the second shelf, this is the shelf with my children's books on it. The Coco Chanel perfume was given to me as a gift, I don't use it very often but I like to keep it around. The rest are just trinkets I've collected from various places and lots of hair pins.

The other end of the second shelf with fairytales, dream books and girly novels.

The little Stone Henge and the Unicorn were given to me by my friend Kala ^_^ she buys me girly things like this and I buy her dragons! The Yin Yang ring is too big for me but I like to keep it around as a reminder of my schooling. I'm not sure what the stone is, I think it might be clear Quartz.

The third shelf with more children's books, some horror on the left (keeping Oscar Wilde company!). The Lanterns tend to pop up around Halloween and I love them so I always buy a few, the mirror and comb were a gift from my parents and the grey things on the left are wings that I've been in the process of making forever.

The fourth shelf, this one has most of my games, DVD's and tapes on it, also an old fashioned chocolate box and Pirate sign from my parents and the book is Before Green Gables which I haven't read yet.

The bottom shelf that mostly houses boring school books, some novels, some art books and things like my Ocarina tabs book, my Pokémon sticker book and a book on Cat photography.

A little shelving unit between my wardrobe and my bookcase. I keep lots of little things on it, and some of my wigs and hats :).

I only have a couple of polystyrene heads so other wigs and hats go in more... unusual places.

My wardrobe which is next to my window, you can see my cape and a lovely thick white Winter coat that I was given by one of the ladies at my mum's work, I'm excited to wear it!

Andy the Unicorn, my big pony and a dragon I got for Steven at the Christmas market last year, dashingly sporting dreadlocks. For somebody who is quite scared of horses I seem to collect a lot of them.

A little table near the window with my Tarot Cards (the wooden box), Oracle Cards and random other things including a very dead Ivy plant in my drawer there, sorry!

I love Jars and Bottles, I'm sure you know that by now. I keep a few on my windowsill, unfortunately I don't have a very nice view :(

My bed! It's big and soft and comfy.

My mirror, wearing my tophat, for doing my makeup, a big stack of books and the corner of my rocking chair which is currently full of clothes.

Steven's bedside table (well, chair!) with his huge H.P Lovecraft book on it.

My T.V is at the end of the bed. I don't have an aerial so we don't actually watch any T.V as such but I play Pokémon on it (that's the game in my Gamecube there) and we watch films on the PS2.

My bedside table which usually has at least a few Tropical Juice cartons on it as well. I need another bookcase, I have books stacked up all over the place. I have my perfumes next to my alarm clock, a makeup bag in the corner, some jewellery and... a cookie!

A view from my side of the bed, from a strange angle it seems.

The bag I finished knitting the other day.

The bags current contents are a knitted hat, a ball of wool, a crochet needle and a bag I'm knitting, an old poetry book for Boys and Girls and a Disney Princess pen.

My bed teddies Piggy Wiggle and Koffing as well as a cardigan and the book Ballet Shoes which I finished the other day.

Closer up. Piggy Wiggle is as old as me, I want to hand him down in my family ^^.

A painting I did a few years ago which needs touching up, some tealight candles and a Dictionary of Mythology which I got for Steven for his last birthday and which we use to stop our door knocking because of the massive draught that comes up through the house.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my room my sweetlings ♥

The Fantastical World Around You

Finally it was finished! She sat back and held the bag up before her, a look of triumph in her eyes, her very own Faerie bag! Her fingers stung and ached from the feverish work of the past few days but it mattered not, it was finished. Carefully she pulled her most treasured books from their shelves and slipped them inside, just so. Inside the tiny patterns of the stitches cast reflections dancing on the covers. Outside the rain pattered against the window, insistant. The girl closed her eyes, falling away into another land, a land of warm sun drenched fields of wild flowers and grass, a hill by a lake, picnic baskets full of homemade jam and sandwhiches and a looking glass for searching. Now she could take her field guide with her she would finally be able to find the faeries she knew were hiding just out of sight.

WARNING:
Do not dare to read this book
For if you take one fateful look
You barter at your life's expense
And face a deadly consequence

Outfit rundown:
Cardigan: Primark
Skirt: Thrifted
Bag: I made it over the past few days ^_^
Socks: Pound Shop
Shoes: Thrifted
Books: Arthur Spiderwick's Guide to the Magical World Around You by Tony Diterlizzi and Holly Black and Children I Have Known by Frances Hodgson Burnett

Good Evening to you my sugar dumplings!
I've had an exciting couple of days finishing lots of little projects. I finished reading two books and today I finished knitting a messenger bag for school which I'm really happy about! I didn't follow a pattern and just went off what I thought would work, I also didn't use any seperate pieces sewn together but knitted the bag, the flap for the cover and the strap all in one. It's not absolutely perfect but for my first try of something so big I really like it, my fingers are sore though.

I also harvested all my tomatoes yesterday because my plants have been looking a little worse for wear in the cooling weather, I got 98 tomatoes in the end. Unfortunately I wasn't able to leave them on the plants to redden so I'm going to do it inside instead, my friend told me that if  you put a banana or a red tomato with them it will make them go red so I'm going to try that I think.

I've been wanting to take pictures of my Arthur Spiderwick book for a while now but it's quite difficult to take good pictures of it, even these ones didn't come out perfectly, I promise to try again soon.

How are you my darlings? What's making you happy right now?
