Flower Detective

Good Afternoon my sugar plums, I hope you all are having a lovely Easter holiday so far ^^
Yesterday I ventured into town with Steven for a wander, we had no particular aim so we decided to amble around and see what we could see. We took a trip into Cancer Research and found some wonderful loot, I love visiting the charity shops back in my home town because they always have something different than where I live now.
I found a wonderful basket which I am going to use in the garden, kitchen and for picnics and picking wild flowers. I have been dreaming of the perfect basket for at least 6 months now so it feels great to finally get my hands on one!
I also picked up a beautiful black floral dress, a floaty indigo skirt and the most perfect hat I think I have ever laid hands on. To find it sitting there was such a shock and I just had to get it. Steven is definitely my partner in crime when it comes to second hand shopping because he knows what I like and never fails to point it out to me xD taking him shopping is rather dangerous for my wallet but really awesome for my wardrobe.
Today I wanted to go out to the lake that's really close to my house, unfortunately the weather is really not on my side for nice trips out it seems because the wind was very bitter. I really wanted to get dressed up and go and pick flowers and things though and we both really wanted to get out of the house for a while so we went anyway.
I found some teasels by the lake and took some, I also took some of the dead Ivy veins that were climbing up the trees. I don't really like to take too many things but most everything I took was dead, I said thank you to the lake anyway ^^

Isn't the shape of wood amazing? I love all the twists and curls and knots.

It also makes a pretty great hat stand.

Before our trip to the lake.

With Steven also. Pictures with both of us standing really show how short I am xD Steven really isn't very tall either.

The full outfit. Also you can tell this is an after shot because of the copious amounts of mud now attached to my boots. There's something wonderful about muddy boots though isn't there? I really love muddy boots.

The tights are actually the same colour as the hat but they look really pink in the pictures.

Looking dapper in the hat. I swear he can wear anything, he would probably be able to pull off a dress!

Stevie D, mystery solver extraordinare...

Also King of the Pocket, a pocketful of random assortments for every need.

I added a filter to these last three, I feel like some sort of teenage gangster victorian detective which is a great thing to be. I think I will endevour to include all of these elements into many future outfits and adventures.

A picture of Tolten since last time he was asleep most of the time. Although to be fair he is asleep most of the time all the time xD

This pretty much shows the dynamic of the relationship between Tolten and his brother perfectly. Happy gets poked in the eye by Tolten's wiskers, wrestled all over the place and generally driven quite nutty whilst Tolten buzzes around everywhere on a permanent mad half hour.

and a few from home whereby I show you the multiple kinds of Daffodils growing in the garden.

They're such a perfect colour, like egg yolks.

A rogue tulip appears!

The biggest Daffodils in the land! Well that may be a slight embellishment but seriously these guys are huge.

The Meaning of Fashion

Recently I've been watching and looking at more fashion related things again, I tend to go through phases of being very interested and then becoming disinterested in fashion but it's always nice when the time comes for me to go on hunts for inspiration and fashion related articles again.
Looking at fashion makes me want to create things, it makes me want to get involved, when I see interesting and thoughtful designs it really gets me interested in the symbolism and ideas going on in the fashion world.
Other than looking at the runway photographs I also enjoy reading up on recent discussion surrounding fashion. I think fashion is a fascinating thing, even the styles that I don't like are enjoyable to me because I like to learn and think about what fashion and clothing means socially.
I want to know why a certain type of person likes a certain design or why certain subcultures favour certain designers, why some people wear nothing but designer and some people wear nothing but thrift, why some people love fashion and some people hate it. It's all part of such an interesting field, appearence and clothing is such an integral part of how humans communicate and its an important and fun area to think about.
I recently read two interesting articles which completely contrast eachother, one being Why I Hate Fashion and the other Why Fashion is Worth Blogging About. I like to know people's feelings on fashion, on clothes and I like to know why they feel the way they do. What could lead somebody to hate fashion and what do they mean why they say they hate it? What does that mean about how they present themselves visually? Or for somebody who loves fashion, what does it mean to them and why do they love it? How would it change how they present themselves?
The thing I love best about fashion personally is that it prompts me to ask and think about so many questions and different things, it peaks my interest in the world and people around me and inspires me to create.
