Happy Halloween ^_^

Hello sweetlings ^^;
I hope you all will have a great time today, a time for dressing up, playing with your friends and eating lots of sweeties no matter what age you are! Take the chance to let your inner child out today, go out and celebrate, give treats to kids in costumes, take pictures, have lots and lots of fun.
If you're in a place that doesn't celebrate Halloween don't let it stop you, you could always try doing something small if you aren't into the big festivities. Decorate the house a bit, make a costume and wear it about.
Try looking up the history of Halloween, find stories and tales, learn about it's meaning in other cultures.
Do something Halloween related today, carve a pumpkin and put a candle in, bob for apples, paint your nails, wear your costume with pride.

This isn't my full costume but I wanted to show off my cape! I love it so much, I'm going to wear it all year round. I do have a costume to go with it but many pictures of that will come later.

On another note; I got a call from my best friend now who is quite merry just for the purpose of telling me how much she loves me and how good a friend I am! So sweet <3
I think often we don't tell eachother these things, how much we cherish our friends and loved ones, it kind of slips our mind or we feel awkward or strange. It's so wonderful and lovely to hear though, it just makes me feel so warm when somebody tells me they love me. We should definitely do it more, I'm going to try harder to say it from now on.
So if you love someone let them know ^_^

Additionally I'd like to add that I'm not leaving my blog, I realised I hadn't made that very clear. My tumblr is basically a place to post and find inspirational pictures, I will still definitely be using DS for my blogging.

Lastly I'm starting NanoWriMo tommorow! I'm so excited and jittery about it.
If you're doing it then lets be friend and encourage and support eachother in our manic Novembers.

Tumblr

I decided to finally get a Tumblr account, I will admit that the main reason I didn't have one previously was because I had no idea how to use it!

The adventures of Mr Rat and capturing Will o' Wisps

Good evening sweeties, I hope you all are very well ^_^
As I said in my last post I recieved my Arthur Spiderwick's guide to the magical world around you the other day, I was so excited to get it and look through it. Steven and I curled up in the bed and looked through it together, it's so beautiful.
I really love the style of illustration in it, the drawing and colouring is just amazing and the details are just so cute. For example the house Brownies have little buttons on their hats and the Pixies clothes are made out of leaves and seed pods and such, everything is just magical, looking at the pictures and reading the notes really makes you think that these wonderful things do exist, all these mysterious spirits and creatures in our own world.
I think about these types of things a lot, spirits and creatures that exist, I really believe that other things do exist. Whether its unicorns and mermaids and banshees I'm not sure but I really believe in my heart that 'spirits' exist, good and bad, protecting us and going about their own business as well. I think also it's possible to see into that world, to sense and feel things other people can't, to see things, know things, hear things.

I took a particular interest in Will o' Wisps, this is one of the nicknames Steven has for me and I like the theory behind them. They seem completely mystical, somehow moreso than faeries and elves to me, they're just... mysterious.
I know a lot of people think they are bad or evil, leading people astray and to their death. I wonder though if there could be good Will o' Wisps, ones that lead people home, keep them safe, guide them. I would want to be this type of Wisp for sure.

This was an idea I've wanted to play with for a while, I wanted to give the idea of something like a faerie or as I've said above a Will o' Wisp, also I liked playing with the shadows.

And also today Mr Rat and I went on an adventure in the garden! He was very excited, I think Stan was telling him stories.
I tried something a little different with these photos, I recently downloaded a free editing program called Photoscape (you can download it here: http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/download.php) which can give really interesting effects especially as to colouring, I wanted these to seem a little darker than usual but in a more dreamy way as opposed to spooky feeling. I hope you will enjoy!

Hello Pirate Boot! Pirate Boot is very mischevious, she wanted to go for a walk too.

Do you like her feather? Mr Rat was sticking close to her, he's not used to going outside.

Hello Stan! He was munching the climbing plants and didn't want to go very far today.

Plant pot escapades!

I hear plant pots are very exciting if you're very small. I will have to see if my other rats enjoy it so much.

Tree climbing seems to be a skill around here.

He is shy, it seems it's much easier to hide in the plants if you are little. Stan couldn't do this as easily.

Mr Rat is a bit of a show off isn't he?

Lazing on a leaf is very fun.

Kissies for the purple plant.

Ivy is also good for covering yourself at short notice!

We see you Mr Rat, your clever plan has been foiled.

Exploring The Ivy Path

I think somebody is watching him... he seems oblivious.

It's the native garden Grrynn but luckily they are friends with rats... I'll introduce those fellows soon enough.

Last week I picked up a bunch of leaves as I was walking home, I sewed them all together and Steven tied a ribbon to them and hung them up on the wall. The feather I found also discarded in the grass.

In the next post I think I will show you the evening sky around here, it's lovely, filled with purple and dark blue and orange, red, pink.... Autumn is amazing.
Also here is a song my friend Rhaggles and I both like ^^

Doodles and such

Good evening to you sweetlings,
I have wanted to update this week about various things, for instance I mentioned a Blackmores Night post and I would also like to make a post about 3 Wishes Faery Festival, however I have been so tired and also quite run down recently and therefore I will have to move those posts on a little into the future.
I had Acupuncture done on myself for the first time ever on Friday, it was fantastic! It's odd to think I had gone a whole year as a student of Acupuncture and still not have felt it's effects myself but until Friday I had never actually been needled ever.
My friend Monica and I were practicing on eachother, she needled me and I her, it was surprising to me how little it actually does hurt. We always say to other people when they ask that it doesn't hurt at all and of course we do mean it but it's also useful in calming our patients nerves, until Friday I really had no idea what the sensation of it was like at all.
I can honestly say that in general it really doesn't hurt, you can't even feel it go in and it's therefore a little shocking when you sit back and realise you actually have a needle in your body. The needles do go in deeper than you might expect, a few centimetres (or cun as they are measured in Acupuncture) and not on the surface. However this is what makes it painless, if we insert the needle and it doesn't go through the skin far enough this is what hurts, if it goes in far enough then it's not painful.
The sensation it gives you is usually quite a dull throbbing feeling somewhere inside, it's quite difficult to explain. Also you can have feeling all along the meridian pathway and not just in the point itself and it can also cause sensations in radically different parts of the body for instance needling my boyfriends leg changed his headache, needling just below the knee caused a sensation near the ankle.
I would really suggest trying Acupuncture to any of you, as a practitioner of it obviously I put my faith in it, it can treat a lot more than people expect. A lot of people can feel cynical about it's effects, all I can say is that you really have to feel it!
Out of interest have any of you had Acupuncture?
How did it make you feel?
What were you treated for?
I would be very interested to hear your experiences if you feel comfortable to share them, of course you can be as vague or as detailed as you would like ^_^

I've had a few people asking about my drawings and paintings recently. For the past few months I haven't been doing so much of those as I used to, I was in the habit of drawing something on most days but now I more than often draw something occassionally and then forget to take pictures of it. The drawings in this post are mostly just 'doodles' or ideas for something else but I thought it would be nice to post them anyway.

Onto another subject I'm pleased to have recieved some questions in my 'Ask me, Tell me' post, I feel it's a really nice way to converse between us and also it's fun for me to answer! I'll reiterate the point, if you have anything you'd like to ask me, anything at all please don't hesitate to leave me a question!
The other point of that post is if you have anything you'd like to show me, something that makes you happy, inspires you, a story you want to tell, something about yourself or completely fictional, pictures, videos, links and so on then I'd love to see them.
The post is http://dear-sweetlings.blogspot.com/2009/10/ask-me-tell-me.html

Vegeta! I like drawing him so he crops up quite often in my sketchpads ^^

And some others pictures. Steven's brother Mike took these next ones when we went back to visit Steven's house.

Jo and I ^^

And lastly how I did my hair the other day, please excuse my face as I was feeling a little poorly.
